Job Description:

Biochemists and Molecular Biologists are needed to develop next generation sequencing methodologies. The candidate will be involved in developing assays, instrumentation and workflow procedures for genome-based instrument systems. Must be able to independently design and execute experiments. The successful candidate will utilize their expertise in fundamental biochemical- and molecular biology-based procedures to develop methodologies for robust sample preparation, emulsion PCR design and polymerase evaluation using analytical assessments. Experience in developing instrument systems and platforms is preferred.

The candidate will work in a cross-functional team environment to create and implement methodologies and innovations. The successful candidate must understand product development and be comfortable with rapid change in product design.

Skills/Knowledge Requirements

Requires a BS/MS/Ph.D in biochemistry or molecular biology. 10 years industrial experience or significant hands-on experience with next generation sequencing technologies. Experience with developing instrument platforms is a plus. Demonstrated ability in molecular biology techniques, enzymology and DNA sequencing are essential. This includes a fundamental understanding of PCR and polymerase biochemistry. Experience with complex data analysis a major plus. Ability to conduct independent studies with minimum or no supervision is expected. In addition, excellent communication skills (oral and written), interpersonal skills, and leadership skills are required.
