Senior Research Scientist
About the Job
Social & Scientific Systems (SSS) is seeking a Senior Research Scientist for our Center for Health Research and Policy.​ The Senior Research Scientist will direct projects and contribute to business development efforts in the areas of health expenditures and utilization of care, provider payment, public and private insurance, and rural health care and policy as well as have the opportunity to expand the Center's portfolio to include additional content areas.​ The Center currently is conducting quantitative and qualitative research studies for a wide range of both federal and non-federal clients, including the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and the Maryland Health Care Commission.​ The Center includes researchers with backgrounds in medical sociology, health economics, and public health who conduct their work in a collaborative environment that also fosters a high degree of professional autonomy.​ Required Skills

Experience using Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).​ Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as strong organizational skills and ability to work as part of a project team.​ Required Experience

Bachelor's degreein social or behavioral sciences required plus 8 years of relevant experience required; Master's degree plus 5 years relevant experience or Doctoral degree plus3 years relevant experience preferred.​ Must have experience with the design and execution of social science research.​ Appropriate record of publication desired.​ Training in an array of social science disciplines will be considered.​Familiarity with quantitative data analysis including national survey data, administrative data, and claims data is strongly preferred.​ Experience in developing new contract or grant work a plus.​
