Position Summary
The American Museum of Natural History's Science Alliance program is seeking an astrophysics educator to lead teach an 8 week course for middle school aged students. Classes meet regularly for 8 weeks on Friday afternoons from 4:30-630pm during mid-January, 2012 through mid-March, 2012.

Duties include:

-Planning, developing and documenting curriculum based on the rich and vast astrophysics resources available within the Museum.
-Setting up and cleaning up of classroom and labs.
-Keeping detailed records of classroom activities and documentation of student work.
-Developing an assessment of the overall unit.
-Supervising volunteers/interns.
-Managing students. 
Required Qualifications
Applicant must have teaching experience with middle school aged children in educational settings and/or museums. A minimum of a Bachelors degree in Astrophysics or related field is required. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Photoshop. In addition, the educator must make him/herself available to the Program Manager as needs arise. Must have an interest in working with adolescents, science, and museums. A sense of humor and flexibility is necessary. Fluency in Spanish and other languages is a plus.
